About this event

Join us as we learn about Crypto Currency from Jordan Mathews and Paul B. Thompson, Jr. from Ascension Capital Advisors

Jordan Mathews

Jordan Mathews is a Portfolio Manager and Director of Research at Ascension Capital.

Prior to joining Ascension in 2016, Jordan honed his research and analytic skills at several other Texas-based registered investment advisory (RIA) firms. Jordan’s commitment to risk management solidified during the 2008 Global Financial Crisis, which helped shape his approach to protecting capital and managing risk during market downturns.

Jordan is responsible for monitoring current and prospective investments for Ascension’s proprietary investment models, and creating trade files to uniformly apply model allocations across client accounts.

Jordan grew up in Houston and graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a BS in Mathematics, with an emphasis in Statistics, Probability, and Data Analysis. Jordan has twenty years' experience developing and implementing risk-managed strategies, including thematic long/short global macro investing and strategies dedicated to emerging markets.

Jordan also serves on the board and investment committee of a local charitable foundation.

Paul Thompson, Jr.

Paul Thompson, Jr. is President of Ascension Capital, and he also serves as Portfolio Manager and Client Advisor.

Paul began his career with Fidelity Investments in June 2011. At Fidelity, Paul provided clients with wealth management solutions, specializing in investment guidance and retirement planning. He continues this work at Ascension, where he consults clients and implements strategies to help families and businesses reach their goals.

Since joining Ascension, Paul has helped grow the firm from $140 million in assets under management to over $500 million.

Paul grew up in Houston where he attended Second Baptist High School. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts at University of Texas, and a Business Foundations Program Certificate from the McCombs School of Business.

In his spare time, Paul enjoys spending time with family, his wife Suzy, and his children Sally and Trey. He also enjoys spending time outside, especially to play golf.
